DO HEADLINES OCAA MEN'S RUGBY AWARDS

TORONTO - Georgian College's Henry Do (Brampton) is the 2017 Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) Men's Rugby Player of the Year.

The third-year fly half served as Georgian's captain, helping lead the Grizzlies to an undefeated regular season record of 6-0 while being a contributor on both sides of the ball. Georgian scored a league-high 414 points while allowing a league-low 45 points against. Do is also an OCAA All-Star.

Do's teammate, Ryan Connolly (Barrie) is the OCAA Overall Rookie of the Year. The scrum half scored a try and booted three converts, and was a key contributor for Georgian this season. He is also the top rookie in the West Division.

Sheridan's Rick Bria was named OCAA Overall Coach of the Year. Prior to 2017, Sheridan had a combined record 5-24 over the past five regular seasons. Bria's Bruins doubled their win total in one season, going 5-1 and finishing in playoff position for the first time in the program's history. Bria is also the top coach in the West Division.

Jad Hamade (Oakville) of Sheridan is the OCAA League Scoring Champion. The third-year centre scored five tries while kicking 18 converts and two penalty kicks for 67 total points. Hamade is also an OCAA All-Star.

Fleming's Bradan Vanstone (Caledon) is the OCAA East Division Rookie of the Year. The scrum half helped guide Fleming to a 5-1 regular season record and a East Division championship for the second straight season.

Matthew Chestnut of St. Lawrence Kingston is the OCAA East Division Coach of the Year. Chestnut guided his Vikings to a 5-1 record for the second straight season, and a playoff berth in the OCAA crossovers.

Algonquin's Mark Scholl (St. Catharines) is the OCAA East Division Scoring Champion. The inside centre scored four tries and contributed nine converts for 38 points in five regular season matches. He was also named an OCAA All-Star.

Along with Do and Hamade, OCAA West Division All-Stars include Conestoga's Tyler Nicol (Guelph) and Cameron Warner (Kitchener); Georgian's Kirk Addai Sarfo (Bradford), Jordan Carppi (Lindsay), Jayden Norcross (Beeton) and Nana Ntim (Bradford); Mohawk's Rob Anderson (Hamilton) and Jacob Metcalf (Hamilton); Seneca's Omario Mullings (Scarborough), Kurtis Vanstone (Caledon) and Roy Walters (Toronto); and Sheridan's Tristian Hylton-Hastings (Mississauga), Owen Schimpl (Richmond Hill) and Justin Tota (Tottenham).

Joining Scholl as OCAA East Division All-Stars are Algonquin's Ryan Bateman (Peterborough) and Russell Waldon (Thunder Bay); Fleming's Zach Bignell (Lakefield), Alex Douglas (Madoc), Corey Finch (Peterborough), Reece Honey (Port Hope) and Alex Sicker (Norwood); Loyalist's Tristan Cowen (Trenton) and Brendan Spencer (Napanee); and St. Lawrence-Kingston's D'Shawn Bowen (Mississauga), William Fellows (Kingston), Dustin Hartlen (Kingston) and Alex Vasko (Kingston).
