HUMBER LOSES IN SHOOTOUT AT MEN'S SOCCER NATIONALS

QUEBEC CITY - The Humber Hawks men's soccer team have put themselves in a poor position to advance to a medal game as they lost to F.X. Garneau in their opening game at the 2011 CCAA Nationals in Quebec.

Yousuf Mohammad scored near the end of the first half to give the Hawks the lead. Samuel Sevigny of the Elans responded about half way through the second half, forcing overtime and then a shootout.

FX Garneau defeated the Hawks 5-4 in the penalty kick competition.

Mario Orestano of Humber and Jean-Philippe Fournier of F.X. Garneau were named players of the game for their respective teams.

Humber will now face NAIT on Friday, with a thin chance of advancing to a medal game. NAIT defeated Garneau 6-2 on Wednesday.
