NIAGARA FALLS NATIVE JORDAN PROVENZANO JOINS NIAGARA MEN'S SOCCER

WELLAND, Ont. - The Niagara College Department of Athletics & Recreation is pleased to announce the addition of goalkeeper Jordan Provenzano to the Niagara College men's soccer program. Provenzano is a graduate of Saint Michael's Catholic school in Niagara Falls and currently competes for Niagara United of the Canadian Soccer League.

Niagara College men's soccer head coach Frank DeChellis commented, "Jordan is a very athletic goalkeeper who really understands the game. More importantly Jordan knows what to expect competing at this level. Having played OYSL, OSL, and CSL he has experience and soccer smarts, and we expect him to ramp up the competition for our starting keeper spot."

The 19-year old Provenzano will enroll in the Electrical Engineering Technology program beginning in September. He chose to attend Niagara College "due to the school being close to home. It was important to me to be close to my family and friends. So Niagara College just seemed like the perfect fit."

When asked about his goals during his time at Niagara College, Provenzano continued "on the field I want to help build the Knights soccer program and eventually compete in the national championship. Off the field I feel it's important for me to maintain an 80 percent average and excel academically."

Coach DeChellis feels that Provenzano's athleticism and strong work ethic will make him an ideal addition to the revamped Knights men's soccer program. "Jordan's feel for the ball is sound and he has the ability to make our team as a player if he wasn't in net. Which should be an objective for any goalkeeper."

Provenzano and the rest of the Niagara College men's soccer program will kick off the 2013 season on Sunday, Aug. 25 at Youngs Sportsplex when the team hosts a friendly match versus the Trent University Excalibur.
