OCAA ANNOUNCES 2015 SOCCER LEAGUE SCHEDULES

TORONTO - The Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) men's and women's soccer league schedules will begin on September 12, culminating with the provincial championships being held October 29-31.

In between, a total of 222 regular season and post-season matches will be played, the most since 2009-10.

Defending OCAA men's champion Algonquin College begins its title defence September 12 as it plays host to Fleming College. Algonquin won all of its matches against OCAA competition last season.

University of Toronto Mississauga makes its OCAA debut on the outdoor pitch September 13. It will be a trial by fire for the men, with defending national champion Sheridan College providing the opposition.

Nine days later, Sheridan visits Humber College in a battle of 2014 OCAA medalists. In fact, Sheridan and Humber have combined for 10 OCAA medals the past five seasons. Both teams play again October 17 in what will likely be evenly contested matches.

OCAA defending women's champion and national bronze medalist Seneca College will be in an unfamiliar division this season, moving to the newly created central division. Seneca opens against a former east division foe, George Brown College, on September 17.

Algonquin College visits Cambrian College on September 20 in a match between 2014 OCAA women's medalists. A rematch is set for October 10 in the nation's capital.

The Fleming women's team is in a unique position of having home field advantage at both provincials and nationals this autumn. Humber plays host to the men's provincials, with nationals taking place in St. Lambert, Que.

Playoff qualifiers will take place October 24-25, with eight teams battling for the OCAA championships the final three days of the month. OCAA will sent two teams to each respective national championship, including women's host Fleming Knights.

OCAA will release its remaining league schedules for men's and women's rugby, men's baseball, women's softball, men's and women's volleyball, and men's and women's basketball later this week.
