OCAA GOLD MEDAL REMATCH AT MEN'S SOCCER NATIONALS

Algonuin Thunder 3, Indiens d'Ahuntsic 1

The No. 4-ranked Ahutsic Indians took on the Algonquin Thunder, seeded No. 5 at the CCAA Men's Soccer National Championship.

The first half saw little action, with both teams being cautious, the exception being a masterful cross along the turf from Marco Natoli that found its way to th eback of the goal. The Thunder led 1-0 after 45 minutes of play.

The second half started with Ahuntsic being awarded a penality kick, but they were unable to capitalize as Simon Brown made an outstanding save with a deft move to the left.

The 59th minute saw the Thunder add to their lead with a goal by Hayden Simmons-O'Grady. The final blow came in the 74th minute, thanks to Lucas Blain's goal.

Ahuntsic managed to score when Claudio Marasco headed the ball past the Algonquin keeper in the 87th minute of play, but it was a case of too little, too late. Les Indiens fell by a final score of 3-1 over Alginquin.

The players of the game were Abdelssalam Chougui for Collège Ahuntsic and Alex Asmis for Algonquin College.
 
Humber Hawks 6, Champlain Cavaliers 0

Host Champlain College Saint-Lambert Cavaliers (No. 8) went up against the No. 1-seeded Humber Hawks.

With a packed house, the Cavaliers were hoping to get the upset in front of the many Cavalier alums who were out in force to cheer on the new crop off players.

Humber struck early as Joshua Peredes-Procter let go a perfect shot on a free kick in the 14th minute that beat the Cavaliers keeper. Peredes-Procter continued to be a pain for the Cavaliers as he went to the penality spot in the 25th minute and was rewarded for is accuarcy, giving the Hawks a 2-0 lead. A flux of yellow cards followed, giving indication that the second half would be a lively affair.

Humber took full control in the second, scoring four unaswered goals. Scorers were Jesse Assing (63rd minute), Patrick Majcher (68th), Sonan Askndar (81st) and Luca Baldassare (82nd). The final score was 6-0 for Humber.

The players of the game were Alexandre Bourdeau for Collège Champlain and Gerardo Magno for Humber College.

Humber advances to face Algonquin in an all-OCAA national semi-final. This is a rematch of the OCAA gold medal match, won by Humber 3-0.
