FANSHAWE 4, REDEEMER 1

LONDON, Ont. - The Fanshawe men's soccer team defeated the Redeemer Royals (3-3-0) by a final score of 4-1 at home on Saturday. Fanshawe continues to lead the OCAA west division with a record of 5-0-1.

The Falcons scored first in the 27th minute, when Mike Marcoccia capitalized on a nice through ball from Jacob Atkinson to put Fanshawe up 1-0. In the 40th minute, Marcoccia scored his second goal of the game on a well-placed shot to make the score 2-0 at the half.

After the break, Atkinson contributed a brilliant goal, volleying the ball into the left corner of the net in the 72nd minute. Redeemer's Noah Murray then scored in minute 87, cutting Fanshawe's lead to 3-1. The Falcons responded quickly, when Mensud Zulum buried a beautiful chip shot to finish out the scoring.

Fanshawe will take the field again on Wednesday, Oct. 7 when they will host St. Clair College (3-1-1) at 5 p.m.
