MOHAWK 4, REDEEMER 2

ANCASTER, Ont. - Mohawk avoided having to play on the road in OCAA soccer cross-over games this weekend, when they both posted victories against Redeemer in the final night of the regular season on Wednesday.

The Mountaineer women needed to beat the Royals by four goals and striker Gabrielle Krebs scored four herself, in a 7-0 victory. Rachelle DeJong got the other three goals.

Mohawk finished the regular season with a 5-5 record. Redeemer was 0-10.

The Mohawk women will host a still to be determined opponent Saturday at 1 p.m. at Redeemer University College on Garner Road in Ancaster, Ont.

The Mohawk men will follow at 3p.m. The Mountaineers needed a tie or win to avoid a more than five hour bus ride to Sudbury, Ont., with a 4-2 triumph over Redeemer. Mohamad Mohamad and Lucas Raposo scored two goals each as Mohawk raced out to a 4-0 lead in the first 26 minutes.

Lewis Tuininga got two of the goals back, but that would be the scoring for the night.

The Mountaineers ended the regular season with a 5-3-2 record. The Royals were 4-6.
