MOHAWK 5, REDEEMER 2

ANCASTER, Ont. - The Mohawk men's soccer team evened its record at 3-3-1 as they defeated the Redeemer Royals 5-2 in OCAA men's soccer in Ancaster, Ont., on Thursday.

Patryk Korbut put the Mountaineers in front inside two minutes and Mohamad Mohamad doubled the count on a penalty in the 23rd minute. Travis Feddema got a goal back for the Royals in the 34th minute and Mohawk led by one at the half.

The second half saw a steady downpour and Mohamad's second goal of the night and fifth in the last two games, restored the two-goal margin in the 56th minute. Less than a quarter of an hour later, Mohamad Chkeir made it 4-1 for the Mountaineers. Lewis Tuininga scored for Redeemer in the 76th minute, but a late  Mohawk substitute, Kaelen Urech, scored on the last kick of the game, in stoppage time, to complete the scoring.

While Mohawk moved into third place in the West Division with 10 points, Redeemer slipped a point back with a 3-4 record for nine points. The Royals do have a game in hand on the Mountaineers.
