ST. CLAIR 2, LAMBTON 1

WINDSOR, Ont. - The St. Clair College men's varsity soccer team opened up their OCAA home schedule on Tuesday evening at the Main Campus Field by defeating the Lambton College (Sarnia) Lions 2-1.

Lambton went up 1-0 at the 15 minute mark on a strange own goal. The St. Clair keeper was attempting to kick the ball down field but it hit the back leg of one of the Saint defenders and deflected into the back of the net.

St. Clair drew even at the 25 minute mark on a nice tally by Yale Chadsey. The Saints outshot the Lions in the first half 6-2 with St. Clair also holding the edge in shot attempts 9-5.

St. Clair had a much better second half carrying the play for most of the final 45 minutes. The Saints took the lead on a penalty kick goal by Leighton Speechley-Price in the 65th minute after some furious pressure in the Lambton zone. The shots on goal in the second half were 8-2 for the Saints who had 17 shot attempts compared to four for Lambton.

With the win the Saints record on the season is now one win and one loss. St. Clair is next in action on Saturday when they travel to Kitchener to take on the Conestoga Condors.
