ANCASTER, Ont. - The St. Clair men's soccer team shaded Mohawk 1-0 at Redeemer on Saturday.

The lone goal came in the first minute of the second half after a goalkeeper miscue in wet conditions, and Leighton Speechley-Price pounced on the lose ball and scored.

The Mountaineers had numerous chances in the second half but Saints keeper Shane Beaton made several excellent saves and got help from a goal post.

St. Clair improved to 5-1 while Mohawk dropped to 3-3.

ANCASTER, Ont. - The St. Clair College varsity soccer teams were on the road on Saturday in Ancaster, Ont., to face the Mohawk Mountaineers. On a wet and rainy day the Saints came away with two convincing wins.

The St. Clair men defeated Mohawk 1-0. On a day when the Saints were not at their best they managed to pull off the win. The game was scoreless in the first half with Mohawk outshooting St. Clair 4-1 and holding a 9-4 edge in shot attempts. The Saints scored the winning goal one minute into the second half on a nice goal by Leighton Speechley-Price. Mohawk dominated play for the rest of the game but keeper Shane Beaton was outstanding turning aside several great chances. In the second half the Mohawk outshot Saints 9-5 and had 13 shot attempts compared to eight for St. Clair.

The win improved the Saint's record to five wins and a loss. Mohawk now have three wins and three losses on the season. The St. Clair men's next match is on Wednesday at 5 p.m. when travel to London to take on the Fanshawe Falcons. Fanshawe is tied for first place in the OCAA West Division with St. Clair and are ranked fourth in Ontario and 14th in Canada while the Saints are ranked third in Ontario and 11th in Canada.
