SHERBROOKE, Ont. - The Humber Hawks lost their bid to win a national title as they fell to the University of British Columbia Okanogan Heat tonight by a score of 3-1. The Hawks still however have a chance to medal as they still have a shot at a National Gold.

In the first set the Heat came out hammering serves and but the Hawks kept returning them and were up 6-3 at the first timeout. Humber led 12-9 and it looked like it would all slip away as the Heat went on a 5-0 run, leaving the Hawks down two. Although Paul Kemboi’s brilliant serving put the Hawks back into the lead. After trading leads the score ended up at 23-23. Humber crushed two hard kills and took the first set 25-23.

The second set was all UBCO as they quickly jumped out to a 11-7 lead. The Heat’s power was on display in this set as they were making the Hawks scramble for every ball. By the end the Hawks were hurting themselves and their mental mistakes caught up to them. The Hawks finally dropped the set 25-18 and the match was squared at one set a piece.

The Hawks started the third set slowly as they went down 5-2. However they came racing back to take a 12-10 lead. The Heat then threw everything they had at the Hawks and began to wear them down.
