MCMANN SETS ANOTHER OCAA MEN'S VOLLEYBALL RECORD

BARRIE, Ont. - Dave McMann set the OCAA all-time career blocking record on Wednesday night in a 3-2 Durham College victory over the Georgian Grizzlies in men's volleyball action.

With the victory, the Lords finish in third place in the OCAA east region with a 15-5 conference record and advance to the postseason for the fourth straight season.

Durham will host the Fanshawe Falcons on Saturday, February 18 in an OCAA championship qualifying match. The winner will advance to the provincial championship which is set to take place in North Bay from February 23-25. First serve is at 6 p.m. at the CRWC.

With five blocks against the Grizzlies, McMann has 206 career blocks and passes Corey Cole of St. Clair College who had 205 in five years with the Saints. The Elmvale native recorded 83 blocks this season, which is an OCAA single season record.

McMann also set two more records this year as he finishes his career as the Durham College all-time leader in points and blocks.

Jordan McFarlane of Oshawa led Durham in scoring on Wednesday night with 16 points. The freshman had individual season highs in kills (11), blocks (5) and points (16). McMann and teammate P.J. Cornelius (London, Ont.) each had 15 points in the win.

Set scores in the marathon match were 23-25, 25-22, 15-25, 25-23 and 15-13.

Durham has qualified for the OCAA championship the past two seasons.
