MOHAWK MEN'S VOLLEYBALL RECRUITS

Mohawk Mountaineers men's volleyball team, winners of the OCAA bronze medal last season, have been busy recruiting in the off-season. Read about some top recruits and the thoughts of head coach Matt Schnarr.

Eric Danecke

  • Named MVP of WCSSAA and First-Team All-Star 2011
  • Member of Waterloo Tigers 4 years
  • Graduating Male Athlete of the Year 2012

Player Comment: "I chose Mohawk because I liked the program, facilities and the volleyball program. Although it is going to be a lot hard work and dedication I look forward to the challenge of OCAA volleyball."

Coaches Comment: "Another blue chip recruit, Eric's business like attitude; get in, get it done and get out; is infectious and hope this rubs on his fellow teammates. Watching Eric in the semifinals at the OFSAA championships dominate an UCLA recruit was the moment Mohawk knew we had to get Eric. MVP of his WCSAA league we look for Eric to bring his winning attitude and to push for a lot of court time with our middle group."

Bradley Regier
Position: Left Side Power
Height: 6'1"
Program: Police Foundations

  • Played in High School @ St Annes CSS in Clinton ON from Grade 9 to 12

  • Was awarded the same award the following year in U-17
  • Now ready to play for Mohawk Mountaineers

Player Comment: "I chose Mohawk College because there is a great bunch of guys on the team and has a good coaching staff. I am very excited to play for Mohawk, looking forward to a great year as a result of hard work and determination. The Police Foundation Program is well recognized and I am sure I will learn a lot in the field I am hoping to pursue."

Coaches Comment: "Brad is a blue chip recruit who has the potential to be a dominant all around left side in the OCAA ranks. His aggressive nature and work ethic are what separates Brad from other recruits; qualities that are hide to find in young athletes. Brad plays the game the "Mohawk Way" and we are excited to have him join us in accomplishing our goals."

John Zimmerman
Position: Left Side
Height: 6'2"
Program: Pre-Justice

Player Comment: "I chose Mohawk because it is close to home and I feel that it is the best fit for me and my future. I'm excited I am to be playing so close to home in front of family and friends at Mohawk. I look to make an impact with the Mountaineers next season!"

Coaches Comment: "A home grown product, John was the first of our recruits to commit. We think that John's length and athleticism gives him a chance to develop quickly into a solid left side in the OCAA. With openings on the left side, John has the ability to compete and make an impact early in the lineup. We look forward to his addition."
