OSHAWA, Ont. - Humber won its fifth straight Adidas Cup men's
volleyball title this weekend as they defeated the Mohawk
Mountaineers 3-1 in the championship final at Durham College.
Set scores in the match were 25-16, 25-20, 25-10 and 29-27. This
marks the second straight year Humber has earned the tournament
victory over Mohawk in the finals.
Durham finished in fifth place, beating Loyalist 3-1 in the
championship round. The Lords took Humber to the brink on Friday
night as they fell 15-13 in the fifth and final set to the
defending CCAA national champions.
Top players in the tournament were honoured following the title
match. MackRobertson of Humber was named MVP while teammate
Terrence Pragg-Singh was named a championship all-star.
Other players receiving all-star recognition were Joel Gignac and
Marcin Jedrzejewski of Mohawk, Chris Jackin of Trent and Ben
Fillmore of Niagara.
Durham will take part in the Humber Cup this weekend before
hosting their home opener on Friday, Nov. 2 against George Brown
College.
