MOHAWK STYMIED BY ST. CLAIR AT FANSHAWE TOURNAMENT

LONDON, Ont. - Mohawk's volleyball teams will try to break into the win column Saturday morning at the Fanshawe Overkill Kickoff Tournament after both lost to St. Clair Friday night.

The men went five sets with the Saints before losing 26-24, 25-21, 21-25, 17-25, 11-15.

Bryce Marcussen had nine kills, five blocks and one ace to lead the Mountaineers. Trevor McLaughlin added 10 kills and one ace.

The men will meet Georgian on Saturday morning and Sheridan in the afternoon.

The Mohawk women dropped three straight sets to St. Clair, by scores of 15-25, 23-25, 18-25. They used a different line-up for each set and their offensive stars were Natalie Przerwa, Brittany Gingrich and Kinsley Child. Top defenders were Rebecca Powell, Jesna Marmo and Ales Assaf.

Mohawk will play Sheridan and Georgian on Saturday.

The tourney runs until Sunday afternoon.
