FANSHAWE 3, MOHAWK 0

TORONTO - In the OCAA gold medal match, the Mohawk Mountaineers took on the Fanshawe Falcons in one of the most exciting matches of the championship. The Falcons used their power to propel them to the OCAA championship 25-20, 25-16, 27-25.

The opening set was one of the most energetic and thunderous opening sets of the championship.  Both teams came out hitting with power. The two teams pulled off massive kills and worked to keep the score close as both sides took turns sought the momentum. The Falcons pulled away late scoring eight of the final 10 points to win the opening set 25-20.

The second half saw more back and forth action as the points were coming fast and furiously. Midway through the set, the Falcons scored six straight points to open the set up. With a lead intact, the Falcons would close out the set, winning 25-16.

The third set was an incredible thriller with neither team leading by more than three points throughout the entire set. The Mountaineers held a lead for the majority of the set, but the Falcons were able to come back from three points down to tie the set at 25. From there, the Falcons were able to take control, scoring two quick points to win the third set and the OCAA gold medal.

The Falcons and Mountaineers advance to the CCAA championship from March 10-12, hosted by Douglas College.
