FANSHAWE 3, SHERIDAN 0

TORONTO - The Fanshawe Falcons beat the Sheridan Bruins in the semifinals 3-0 (25-23, 25-18, 25-22) to advance to the OCAA gold medal match.

The opening set of the second semifinal started off thunderously with both teams getting in their fair share of crowd-pleasing kills. The Bruins carried the lead most of the set, but at the end it was the Falcons who took the set with a 25-23 win.

The second set saw much of the same as the Bruins jumped out to a quick lead. Tied at eight, the Falcons started to take over with their power, taking seven straight points to secure a second set win 25-18.

The Bruins battled hard in the third set to keep the score close, but in the end the Falcons were too strong and the West Division's top seed won the final set 25-22.

Fanshawe will play Mohawk in the gold medal match Saturday at 5 p.m. while Sheridan will play for the bronze medal at 2 p.m. against the Niagara Knights.
