OSHAWA, Ont. - The Durham College men's volleyball team is leading the way after the opening day of their Adidas Cup tournament at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre.

In a seven-team field, the Lords played four of their six two-set matches on Friday to open the tournament.

Durham started the day with a 2-0 win over the Fleming Knights, winning the first set 25-21 and the second 25-20.

The Lords followed with a sweep over Loyalist College 25-20 and 25-18 to carry their momentum through the opening two games.

Up against George Brown in their third matchup of the day, Durham was looking to maintain top spot in the tournament as the Huskies were 3-1 through two matches.

It wasn't an issue for the Lords who won both sets 25-13 and 25-21.

Their first loss came in their final match of the day against the Algonquin Thunder. Durham lost the first 27-25 before taking the second set 25-18.

Saturday morning action gets underway at 9 a.m., but the Lords won't play until 10 a.m. against Cambrian Golden Shield. Their final round-robin match is 12 p.m. against the Conestoga Condors.

With their opening day success Durham has locked up a spot in a semifinal, which will be played at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
