MOHAWK MEN OPEN SENECA VOLLEYBALL TOURNEY WITH TWO WINS

TORONTO - It was a good opening night's play for the Mohawk men's volleyball squad Friday at the Seneca Sting Challenge in North York, Ont.

In their first match, the Mountaineers downed the Durham Lords 3-1 in games, as Mitch McFadden had 16 kills, one service ace and three stuff blocks. Nathan Delguidice produced 14 kills and six digs and Chris Spack had 54 assists.

Mohawk then scored a 3-1 victory over the Niagara Knights. Max Anderson had 12 kills, two aces and one block. Rob Hudson passed extremely well and had nine digs.

Mohawk head coach Matt Schnarr was beaming after the game, over what he termed the Mountaineers great team defence.

Mohawk's next game is Saturday at 10 a.m. against the Sheridan Bruins. Then at 2 p.m. they'll face the Canadian Mennonite University (CMU) Blazers.
