MOHAWK 3, ST. CLAIR 0

The St. Clair College men's volleyball team earned a big split on the road this past weekend when then travelled to Hamilton and Welland, Ont.

On Saturday night, the Saints took on the Mohawk Mountaineers in Hamilton. St. Clair had a solid match but ended up falling to the Mountaineers 3-0. Set scores for Mohawk were 25-19, 25-18 and 25-21. Mohawk is currently ranked second in the OCAA and seventh in Canada. With the win Mohawk improved to 11-2 on the season.

On Sunday afternoon, St. Clair was in Welland to take on the Niagara Knights. The Saints played well against a strong Niagara team and came away with a tough 3-1 upset win. Game scores for St. Clair were 25-21, 22-25, 25-18, and 25-21. Niagara who dropped to 7-5 on the season, are ranked sixth in the OCAA.

With the weekend split, the Saints are now 6-6 on the season and in seventh place in a very tight OCAA West Division. However, the Saints are only one win out of fourth place. The men are currently ranked ninth in the OCAA.

St. Clair is next in action on Saturday, Jan. 28 when they host the Humber Hawks at 3 p.m. at the SportsPlex. The match will be broadcast live on www.we-tv.ca.
