ST. CLAIR 3, BOREAL 0

WINDSOR, Ont. - The St. Clair College men's volleyball team wrapped up their regular season schedule this past weekend hosting two matches at the SportsPlex. Heading into the weekend, the Saints had to win both matches and get some help to secure a playoff spot in the very competitive OCAA West Division.

Unfortunately, the Saints did their part but they did not get the help they needed to get into the playoffs.

On Saturday, the Saints took on the Cambrian Golden Shield from Sudbury, Ont. St. Clair got off to a strong start winning the first set 25-11. Cambrian bounced back to win the second set 25-23. However, it was all Saints after that as they won the next two sets by scores of 25-13 and 25-19 win the match 3-1. Jared Niziolek (Windsor, Ont.) led the way for the Saints offensively with nine kills, one service ace, two stuff blocks and four digs.

On Sunday afternoon, St. Clair had another solid match defeating the Collège Boréal's Vipères 3-0. Game scores for Saints were 25-14, 25-12 and 25-12. Mike Knight (LaSalle, Ont.) had a solid match for St. Clair with seven kills, one service ace, one stuff block and two digs.

With the weekend wins, the Saints ended their regular season with a record of 9-9 and tied for fifth place. The men are currently ranked eighth in the OCAA. However, due to tie breakers with Niagara and Sheridan, St. Clair drops to seventh place, which is one spot out of the playoffs. The Saints are only two wins out of third place in a very tight division.
