FANSHAWE REMAINS UNDEFEATED IN MEN'S VOLLEYBALL

LONDON, Ont. - The No. 5 nationally-ranked Fanshawe men's volleyball team (9-0) stretched their unbeaten streak to nine games with a win over the St. Clair Saints (5-4) on Wednesday night, three sets to none.

Fanshawe opened the first set with a kill from Cole Jordan (London), who currently sits second in the OCAA in average kills per set, with 4.18. St. Clair counterattacked with a pair of kills of their own and took a 6-4 lead. The Falcons tied it at eight on a kill by Will Otten (Delaware). A huge block by Jacob Scobie (Hamilton) would then give Fanshawe the lead. The Falcons would hold on to that lead and take the first set 25-19. Jordan led Fanshawe with seven points after the opening set.

St. Clair had a good start to the second set, going up 6-5. Rookie Jacob Kloosterhof (South Hampton) got a Fanshawe point on a kill, but the Saints would still hold the lead midway through the set. David Gundrum (Port Elgin) had a massive kill to swing the momentum in Fanshawe's favour. The Falcons went on a 3-0 run to take the lead and went on to win the second set 25-21.

Fanshawe would keep up their persistent attack in the third set with a left-side kill by Otten. St. Clair responded with back-to-back points of their own to tie the game 9-9. The two teams continued to exchange points throughout the set until Jordan gave the Falcons a one-point advantage on a massive kill. A well-placed tip by Jordan would then extend the lead to 21-18 and Fanshawe would close out the match by winning the third set 25-22.

Fanshawe will look to remain undefeated in their next match on Thursday, Dec. 7, on the road versus the Mohawk Mountaineers (3-4).
