CONESTOGA'S LAU EARNS 1,000 CAREER POINT

CONESTOGA'S LAU EARNS 1,000 CAREER POINT

KITCHENER, Ont. - Conestoga College would like to recognize Wesley Lau on breaking the 1,000 career point mark in the Sunday, Jan. 20 game against the Humber Hawks.

Despte Lau's game-high 19 points for the Condors, it wasn't enough, as the Condors lost a tough match to the visiting Humber Hawks 3-2.

The Woodstock, Ont., native is a four-time team MVP, a two-time Conestoga Athlete of the Year and was named a First-Team All-Star last season and also earned the Academic All-Canadian designation. He is Conestoga's all-time leader in points, kills, aces, blocks and digs.

Conestoga head coach Wayne Harris cannot speak highly enough of this accomplishment. "Given how hard it is to score in our league, breaking the 1,000-point barrier is an incredible achievement. Very few heavily recruited guys have done this and far fewer walk on athletes. No one in our gym knew who Wes was when he came to his first tryout. He appeared like manna from heaven and started jumping and tearing the cover off of the ball. He was all power and no finesse. His game is much more complete today. He is without a doubt the most dynamic Condor in the history of our program."

Lau, a graduating student, is hoping this year's team can better last season's program best fifth-place finish. The Condors will next face the St. Clair Saints in Windsor, Ont., on Jan. 27.
