FADARE NAMED NATIONAL MEN'S VOLLEYBALL PLAYER OF THE YEAR

FADARE NAMED NATIONAL MEN'S VOLLEYBALL PLAYER OF THE YEAR

Joshua Fadare of the Humber Hawks is the 2022 Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Men's Volleyball Player of the Year.

In addition, Fadare is one of 12 players who has been named 2022 CCAA Men's Volleyball All-Canadians.

The student-athletes were honoured at the 2022 CCAA Men's Volleyball National Championship, hosted by Cégep Limoilou in Quebec City.

"In only his second year, Joshua has become one of the most prolific scorers in the game while playing on a very balanced offensive team," said Ray Sarkis, CCAA Men's Volleyball Convenor. "It is scary to think about what he will accomplish once he reaches his full potential."

Fadare, a second-year middle blocker, led the Hawks to their second straight perfect season in the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA). Humber finished atop the OCAA West Division standings with a 9-0 record.

After earning OCAA All-Rookie honours in his previous season, Fadare stepped up his game this year and became the offensive leader for the Hawks.

The OCAA West Division Scoring Champion led all players in several statistical categories during the abbreviated 2022 regular season, including 119 kills, 4.58 kills per set, 1.00 service aces per set, 158 points and 6.1 points per set. He was also second with a .431 hitting percentage and 26 service aces.

Fadare was so efficient on offence, he led the OCAA in kills despite not being in the Top 5 in total attacks. He also became only the second player in OCAA history to average more than six points per set since 2000.

In addition to starring for Humber, Fadare also volunteers his time at the Hawks National volleyball clinics for Toronto youth.

The CCAA Men's Volleyball Player of the Year receives a customized ring provided by Jostens Canada, the Official Ring Supplier of the CCAA.
