The Seneca College Sting are moving on. The Ontario Colleges
Athletic Association Women’s Basketball representatives
turned in a winning performance this afternoon to defeat fourth
ranked Okanagan 77-66 in their opening round game.
Katie Weiss paced the Sting with 15, while Carlene Siopis followed
closely with 14 points of her own and hitting several clutch free
throws down the stretch. Natasha Thombs and Alana Vicks were also
in double digits scoring 12 and 11 points respectively. Vicks also
dominated the backboards, reeling in a game high 11 boards. Ashley
Docking added 8 points and was honoured as the Player of the
Game.
Seneca will now face the winner of game two between Vanier (1) and
Mount Saint Vincent (8) Friday at 8:00 pm (EST).
