PARSONS RESIGNS AS ST. CLAIR WOMEN'S BASKETBALL COACH

WINDSOR, Ont. - St. Clair College Varsity Women’s Basketball Head Coach Jimmy Parsons has tendered his resignation for personal reasons to take effect immediately.

Parsons who was inducted into the OCAA Hall of Fame as a member of the All-Millennium team for his playing career at St. Clair College also made quite a mark as a Head Coach with the Saints. He holds a 48-32 record in the regular season and never failed to qualify for the play-offs winning the OCAA West Region Coach of the Year award in his very first year season. His teams never finished below 4th place in the OCAA West Region with his most successful season coming in 2009-10 with a Provincial Silver Medal that also earned him recognition as St. Clair’s Inter-Collegiate Coach of the Year.

“Jimmy has done a tremendous job in recruiting and putting a very competitive team on the floor for St. Clair College”, quoted Athletic Coordinator Ted Beale. “During his six years at the helm he is one of only two teams in the OCAA that qualified for the play-offs every season. There isn’t an opponent that enjoyed the ride to Windsor to take on the Saints under his direction. He was widely respected for the fierce competitive nature that our team embodied. He took our program to a new level in terms of community involvement and managed to recruit three international players from Europe to play for St. Clair.”

Parsons stated, "I would like to take this opportunity to thank Dr. Strasser and the Athletics Department especially Ted Beale and Wayne Campbell. I also need to thank to my wife and family because without their help there is no way I could have made the commitment to the St. Clair College Lady Saints Basketball Team. I would also like to thank the coaches who have helped the program and to my assistant coach Reid Innes for the years of service and helping me build this team up from day one. It is not about me or any individual. It was about the Team. Building character in young student athletes when they arrive and watching them grow into young, mature, responsible adults when they depart. The Lady Saints Coaching staff was always focused on building contending basketball teams, but we never lost sight of the fact that the players were student-athletes. We believed that we were not just developing basketball players, we were developing young adults. All of our players have either graduated or are on track to graduate from their selected programs."
