TORONTO - The following have been named Ontario Colleges
Athletic Association (OCAA) basketball student-athletes of the week
for the period ending Sunday, Jan. 15.
MALE: Tyler McGarrity, Durham
Tyler McGarrity (Ajax, Ont.) led Durham to an
80-77 victory over Fleming-Peterborough on Jan. 13. The team
captain led the team in scoring with 27 points and eight rebounds.
Fifteen of McGarrity's points came from beyond the arc as he led
all shooters with five three-pointers. It was a key win as Durham
(6-5) moved one game ahead of Fleming (5-6) and into sixth place in
the OCAA East region standings, with the top six teams qualifying
for the post-season.
FEMALE: Kaitlind Dutrizac, Fanshawe
Fifth-year guard Kaitlind Dutrizac (London, Ont.)
led all scorers with 20 points in Fanshawe's 56-51 win over Humber
on Jan. 12. Dutrizac also contributed four steals. She is currently
second in team scoring with 91 points on the season. Fanshawe leads
the OCAA West region with a 9-1 record, having won three straight
regular season contests. Fanshawe's only blemish of the season came
in a 63-50 loss to Algoma on Nov. 26.
