TORONTO - The following have been named Ontario Colleges
Athletic Association (OCAA) basketball student-athletes of the week
for the period ending Sunday, Feb. 19.
MALE: Aminu Bello, Mohawk
In the semi-annual crosstown game against Redeemer, fifth-year
guard Aminu Bello (Hamilton, Ont.) scored a
game-high 37 points while contributing four rebounds and four
assists as Mohawk earned a 97-58 victory on Feb. 16. Bello is the
top offensive player in the OCAA West region, averaging 24.0 points
per contest. He has contributed an average of 29.7 points his last
three games. Bello is also one of the best shooters in OCAA with a
50.5 shooting percentage.
FEMALE: Atissa Cronk, Humber
Humber first-year forward Atissa Cronk (Kingston,
Ont.) scored a total of 29 points in a pair of road victories over
St. Clair and Lambton. Cronk contributed a dozen points, six
rebounds, three steals, two assists and a block in a 63-41 win over
St. Clair on Feb. 18. Cronk followed this up with a double-double
against Lambton on Feb. 19, scoring 17 points while grabbing 15
rebounds. Cronk is a key reason why Humber is undefeated in
February, winning six straight.
