TORONTO - The following have been named Ontario Colleges
Athletic Association (OCAA) basketball student-athletes of the week
for the period ending Sunday, March 18.
MALE: Andrew Cicuttini, Mohawk
Second-year forward Andrew Cicuttini (Dundas,
Ont.) was named tournament most valuable player at the recent
Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Men's Basketball
National Championship in Truro, N.S. Cicuttini contributed a pair
of double-doubles, and averaged 21 points and 13 rebounds in three
games, well above his regular season average of 10.2 points and 8.4
rebounds. Cicuttini's contributions helped the Mountaineers win
their first national title.
FEMALE: Abeer Farhat, Algonquin
First-year guard Abeer Farhat (Ottawa) was named
a tournament second-team all-star at the recent CCAA Women's
Basketball National Championship in Lethbridge, Alta. Farhat
averaged 28.5 points in three games. She was named Algonquin's
player of the game in its 74-62 quarter-final victory over the UNBC
Timberwolves after scoring 23 points while adding eight assists.
Farhat is a member of the OCAA East region second-team all-stars as
well as a member of its all-rookie team.
