DROPPO TO SUIT UP FOR DURHAM NEXT SEASON

OSHAWA, Ont. - Women's basketball head coach Tim Baulk has added another key recruit to his line-up as Christine Droppo of Lindsay, Ont. has committed to Durham College for the 2012-13 season.

"I am excited to add the strength and aggressiveness that she will provide to our program," said Baulk. "With Christine on the team, we have an experienced player who will add tremendous leadership and a positive attitude."

Droppo will provide a presence for Durham in the paint this season as she stands at 5-foot-10 and has experience playing at the forward and centre positions.

She joins the team after playing club basketball with the Lindsay Wildcats and Peterborough Power of the OBA as well as at the high school level.

Playing for Lindsay Collegiate and Vocational Institute, Droppo and her Spartan teammates had a banner year in 2011 winning the COSSA Championship and earning a berth to the OFSAA AAA championship.

Droppo had many memorable moments playing junior basketball including scoring 20 points in one quarter and hauling in 25 rebounds in a single game. She hopes to continue making an impact wearing the green and gold next season at Durham College.

The Lords will officially open up training on September 17. The Lords home opener is scheduled for Wednesday, November 6 against Loyalist College.
