GEORGIAN 75, FLEMING 31

BARRIE, Ont. - It was a perfect day for the Georgian Grizzlies men's and women's basketball teams on Sunday afternoon when they hosted the Fleming Knights at the Georgian Athletic Centre.

The Grizzlies men's team improved their Ontario Colleges Athletic Association record to a perfect 2-0 after defeating the Knights 94-61.

Georgian used a balanced scoring attack led by Teq Zwarych (Whitby) who had 19 points while fellow rookie forward Inderbir Gill (Brampton) had 17 points and led the team in rebounds with 10.

After opening their 2013-14 OCAA regular season with a loss on Saturday, the Grizzlies women's basketball team came out looking to turn things around and they did just that.

The Grizzlies had a tremendous game scoring which led to a 75-31 victory to give them their first win of the season. It was Georgian's highest point total since defeating the same Fleming Knights 75-71 in the 2011-12 season.

Georgian had big performances from a pair of Barrie natives in Summer Bly and Shelby Clark who both had double doubles on the afternoon. Bly had a team-high 26 points and 15 rebounds while Clark had 25 points and 14 rebounds in nearly 30 minutes of play.

The Grizzlies will hit the road over the next several weeks. The men's team will play their next home game on Sunday, Nov. 17 against the Canadore Panthers while both the men's and women's teams will host the Loyalist Lancers on Friday, Nov. 22 at the Georgian Athletic Centre in Barrie.
