REDEEMER 86, SAULT 44

ANCASTER, Ont. - What a weekend for the Redeemer Royals basketball teams as both women's and men's programs went 2-0 in a four-game sweep of the Sault Cougars. With the wins, both programs move to 3-2 on the season.

Saturday's results were very similar to Friday's. The women's basketball team had little trouble with Sault College whereas the men's team edged out a victory in a very close affair.

Lindsay Moffatt once again led the Royals offensively as Redeemer won by their largest margin in the history of the program 86-44. Moffatt had a game-high 31 points. Moffatt sits in first-place (fourth overall) in the OCAA West Division averaging 21.6 points per game in her rookie season.

Three other Royals had double-digit points. Aycha Hamoui had 13, Samantha Donald had 12 and Esther Weima added 11.

In the men's game, Redeemer held onto their lead throughout most of the match but the Sault Cougars never went away. When the dust settled the Royals walked away with a close 77-65 win.

Benn Ibrahim continued his dominant start to the season with a game-high 24 points and 20 rebounds. Like Moffatt, Ibrahim currently sits in first place (second overall) in the OCAA West Division averaging 24.5 points per game.

Calvin Turnbull added 13 points for the Royals.

Both women's and men's teams look to improve on their 3-2 records after a much deserved week off on Nov. 16 when the Fanshawe Falcons visit the Redeemer Athletic Centre.
