NORTH YORK, Ont. - The Georgian Grizzlies men's and women's basketball teams travelled south to face the Seneca Sting on Tuesday night in North York.

After matching the Sting shot for shot in the first quarter, the Grizzlies fell apart in the second.  Georgian's shooting went ice cold and that allowed Seneca to go on a 25-3 run to gain a huge lead heading into halftime 52-31.

With a big task ahead of them the Grizzlies wouldn't quit and in the fourth quarter momentum finally went Georgian's way.

Trailing by 23 points in the final frame, the Grizzlies chipped away at the big lead and climbed right back into the game to trail by just two points in the final minute of the game.

Georgian had a couple of shots late to pull ahead but that was as close as they could get falling 84-82 in a near miraculous comeback.

Teq Zwarych (Whitby) led the Grizzlies in scoring with 18 points and 10 rebounds for his third double-double of the young season.

First-year guard Braeden Wilkenson (Ottawa) was impressive off the bench scoring eight points in 11 minutes of play.

The win moved Seneca ahead of the Grizzlies in the standings, with Georgian holding a 4-3 record on the season good enough for fifth place in the OCAA East Division.

On the women's side the Grizzlies had a tough time getting things going offensively which is a problem when facing the East's third best scoring team in the Sting.

Seneca were able to get the lead and never looked back as the Grizzlies tried to play catch-up the entire game eventually falling 58-40.

Despite the loss Georgian had another terrific performance from Summer Bly who had 20 points and 10 rebounds, her second double-double of the season.

Both the men's and women's teams will return to action this Friday, Nov. 22 at home when they host the Loyalist Lancers at the Georgian Athletic Centre. Both games are open to the public free of charge with the women's game beginning at 6 p.m. and the men's at 8 p.m.
