ST. LAWRENCE (K) 57, SENECA 41

KINGSTON, Ont. - Having lost their last Ontario Colleges Athletics Association (OCAA) regular season game to Centennial College back in December, the St. Lawrence Vikings got back on track with a 57-41 victory over the Seneca College Sting on Friday, Jan. 10.

"This was a great team win for us tonight, we had a great first half where we moved the ball around, generating several assists," said St. Lawrence head coach Remy Simpson.

St. Lawrence seemed tentative to start, but pulled away roughly half way through the first quarter. Strong play from veteran Haley Gourdier was a big factor to the Vikings 20-point lead at half time, as she recorded 12 points and four steals in 17 minutes of action.

It was more of the same in the second half, as the Vikings continued to pressure the Sting, forcing a game total of 37 turnovers, and 18 steals. Gourdier finished with a team lead of 14 points and five steals.

The Vikings will make the short trip down the 401 to play the Loyalist College Lancers on Friday, Jan. 17 for their next game. Tip-off is 6 p.m.
