DURHAM 71, LOYALIST 35

OSHAWA, Ont. - The Durham College women's basketball team defeated Loyalist College 71-35 Tuesday night at the CRWC.

The Lords (10-3) have won nine of their last 10 games and have moved into second place in the OCAA East region, two points ahead of the St. Lawrence Vikings (9-2). Durham and St. Lawrence will meet up one more time in the Lords' home finale on Friday, Feb. 14 with second place and a trip to the OCAA championship most likely on the line.

Durham dominated play throughout the game showcasing their team depth with 31 points off the bench while also displaying the team's shooting ability with 24 points coming from behind the three-point line. The offence was assisted by a strong defensive effort as the Lords were able to maintain a consistent pressure holding the Lancers to single digit totals in the first three quarters while forcing 28 total turnovers.

Offensively, the Lords were led by Kelsey Hare (Whitby, Ont.), as she collected 15 points in the victory after being recognized before the game for recently becoming the Durham Lords all-time scoring leader in women's basketball.

Another strong performance was also had by Kauri LaFontaine (Whitby, Ont.) as she came two rebounds away from a triple double with 10 points, 11 assists, and eight rebounds. Lafontaine currently ranks in the top 10 of the OCAA for all three categories.

Keriann Sullivan (Scarborough, Ont.) was the key contributor off the bench with 13 points and eight rebounds.

The Lords will next travel to face-off with Seneca College (5-7) on Tuesday, Feb. 4 with tip-off at 6 p.m.  Durham defeated Seneca 80-69 in their season opener.
