SHERIDAN 77, MOHAWK 72

BRAMPTON, Ont. - The Sheridan Bruins men's basketball team has a record of 14-2 and are ranked No. 3 in the country. Both of their losses have been at the hands of Mohawk.

The Mountaineers, ranked No. 9 in Canada, scored a huge road victory Friday (Feb. 7), 80-68 over the Bruins. Mohawk upped its record to 13-3 with their fifth consecutive victory and stopped Sheridan's six game win streak in the process.

As usual, the Mountaineers big guns came to the fore. Matt Fennell had 30 points and six rebounds. Andrew Cicuttini scored 20 points and added 23 rebounds and Taylor Dowhaniuk had a terrific all around game with 12 points, nine boards and 10 blocked shots.

Mohawk head coach Brian Jonker said his charges played a very good road game. Mohawk out-rebounded Sheridan 73-46.

However, the news was not good for the Mohawk women. They struggled badly on defence and saw their seven game win string snapped, as Sheridan won it's fourth win in a row, 77-72. That left both teams with 11-5 records.

Stef Hrymak led the Mountaineers with 22 points. Allyson DeLorenzi had 13.
