ST. CLAIR 86, SAULT 44

WINDSOR, Ont. - The St. Clair women's basketball team jumped all over Sault College starting the game with a 32-3 run that extended into the second quarter and cruised to an 86-44 win at the campus gym Sunday afternoon.

Sault actually played nearly even with the Saints in the second quarter but the damage was already done. St. Clair converted 35 Sault turnovers into 28 points and 26 offensive boards resulted in 21 points for the home team.

Saints player of the game Jessica Gordon (London, Ont./Mother Teresa) scored a game-high 18 points and added 10 rebounds (eight offensive) for the double-double. The 6-foot-6 Gordon also swatted away four Sault shots providing a formidable shot blocking presence.

Forward Kendyl Rizea (Windsor, Ont./Vincent Massey) was all over the stat sheet scoring 17 points to go with six rebounds, four assists, five steals and three blocked shots. Jaide Lyons (Windsor, Ont./FJ Brennan) scored 14 points reaching her usual per game average while Shannon Kennedy (Windsor, Ont./St. Joseph's) had another double-double with 11 points and 14 rebounds. Saints point guard Kelly Rizea (Windsor, Ont./Vincent Massey) doled out six assists and chipped in with seven points.

Sault's Stephanie Maki scored 14 points to lead her team in the loss.

The St. Clair women's basketball team will look to host a play game Feb. 22 at the campus gym at 3 p.m. but will not know their opponent or final seed until the final games OCAA league games are played Wednesday evening. St. Clair sits in second place but with a Fanshawe win over Mohawk on Wednesday could fall to the third seed in a tie-breaker.
