HAMILTON, Ont. - The St. Clair Saints of Windsor withstood a furious fourth quarter rally by the St. Lawrence Vikings of Kingston to reach the semi-finals of he 2014 belairdirect Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) Women's Basketball Championship at Mohawk College in Hamilton Thursday (Feb. 27).
St. Clair saw a 14-point lead to start the final quarter whittled down to one point with 56 seconds remaining, but pulled out a 64-61 decision, in their quarter final matchup at the new David Braley Athletic and Recreation Centre.
Saints' player of the game Jaide Lyons led all scorers with 23 points, including 13 in the first half as St. Clair went to the break up 34-22. Kendyl Rizea scored 13 points and Shannon Kennedy added 11.
Haley Gourdier led St. Lawrence with 13 points. Lacey Knox, who was selected the Vikings' player of the game, had 12 points and added 15 rebounds and Nicolle Gaudet contributed 11 points.
St. Clair's next game is Friday at 6 p.m. against the winner of the Fanshawe-Algonquin quarter-final.
St. Lawrence will meet the loser of the Fanshawe-Algonquin game Friday at 1:00 p.m.
