CENTENNIAL 57, GEORGIAN 39

BARRIE, Ont. - The Georgian Grizzlies men's and women's basketball teams geared up for a pair of big matches Friday night at the Georgian Athletic Centre when they hosted the Centennial Colts.

The Grizzlies men's team jumped out to a great start opening the game on a 10-0 run including a highlight reel dunk by rookie Teq Zwarych (Whitby), who had a team-high 18 points in the contest.

Georgian spread the offence around with five players scoring double digits in points leading to an 87-79 victory.

Ivan Ivic (Croatia) had a strong night from the floor shooting 7-of-10 on his way to a season-high 17-point night.

The win was a big one for the Grizzlies as they pulled into a tie with the Colts for third place in the OCAA East Division standings with matching 9-7 records with four regular season games remaining.

The women's team had a much harder time against the second place Colts.

Centennial played a strong team game that limited the Grizzlies ability to score on its way to a 57-39 victory.

Kadeja Hughes (Pickering) and Ashlyn Martin (Toronto) led the Colts in scoring with 12 points each while Danielle Horvath (Barrie) had a season-high 10 points while shooting 83 per cent from the field.

The Grizzlies men's and women's teams will be heading on the road next weekend when they travel east for games against the St. Lawrence–Kingston Vikings on Saturday and the Loyalist Lancers on Sunday.
