ST. CLAIR WOMEN'S BASKETBALL END SEASON WITH LOSS

TORONTO - The St. Clair College women's basketball team bowed out of the OCAA championship in Toronto on Saturday afternoon with a 62-56 loss to St. Lawrence College (Kingston, Ont.).

St. Clair was effective early in the game but allowed St. Lawrence to come back for 13-12 first-quarter lead. The Saints moved ahead in the second quarter before again relenting to the Vikings who managed to take a 28-22 lead into the halftime intermission. St. Lawrence was able to hold on down the stretch even though at times St. Clair was within striking distance. St. Clair did put up 25 points in the fourth quarter but could not close the gap.

Meighen Boyd (Tecumseh, Ont./St. Anne) was named player of the game for St. Clair scoring 15 points to go with six rebounds. Shannon Kennedy (Windsor, Ont./St. Joseph) had another impressive game recording a double-double for the Saints scoring 20 points with 10 rebounds along with three steals. Torrie Handsor (Wallaceburg, Ont.) chipped in with 10 points adding five rebounds for St. Clair.

St. Lawrence's Jackie Rodgerson (Kingston, Ont.) scored 19 points to help advance her team to the bronze medal game against Algonquin. Humber will face Mohawk in the gold medal game to conclude the provincial championship and determine the Canadian championship qualifier.

The Saints finished the west region schedule in third place with a 12-6 record and added a playoff record of 2-2. Combining its exhibition record of 5-5, St. Clair was an overall 19-13 on the year and will hit the recruiting trail in preparation for next season when it hosts the CCAA national championship in March, 2016.
