FANSHAWE 65, SHERIDAN 54

LONDON, Ont. - The Fanshawe Falcons women's basketball team won their first game of the season in exciting fashion against the Sheridan Bruins by a final score of 65-54. Stephanie Antwi led all Falcons with 18 points, followed by Natalie Warren chipping in a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds.

The first quarter saw Sheridan get off to a quick start, leading the Falcons 22-5. The Falcons quickly found their stride in the second quarter, narrowing the deficit to just six points. Antwi hit two big free throws before the half, making the score 32-26 at the half.

Fanshawe held their own going in the second half, keeping the score within 10. Working the ball around the perimeter, Fanshawe kept chipping away, and cut the lead to just three for the Bruins with one quarter to play.

In the fourth quarter, Fanshawe quickly took over. At the seven-minute mark in the fourth, Sheridan led 51-45. Fanshawe proceeded to go on an 18-0 run, taking full control of the game.  Because of foul trouble, with four minutes left to play, Sheridan was down to just five players. Fanshawe finished the game on a 20-1 run and won by a final score of 65-54.

The Falcons next game takes place on Oct. 29 as Fanshawe is on the road versus the Lambton Lions (0-0) at 6 p.m.
