FANSHAWE 76, SAULT 25

LONDON, Ont. - In their last home game of regular season play, the Fanshawe Falcons women's basketball team was victorious, defeating the Sault Cougars at the Glenn Johnston Athletic Centre by a final score of 76-25. The Falcons currently sit in third place in the OCAA West Division standings.

After giving up the first two points of the game, the Falcons scored 17 straight points to take a commanding lead the first quarter. The Falcons led 19-6 at the end of the first. Fanshawe continued to play strong defence in the second holding the Cougars to just seven points in the quarter. The Falcons had an amazing 30-point lead heading into the half, 43-13.

The Cougars picked up their own defence in the third and stayed right with the Falcons for the majority of the quarter. Brayden Ferguson knocked down a big three pointer to finish the quarter for Fanshawe, who went into the final quarter up by 33. Solid defensive plays by Fanshawe were seen in the fourth, including five steals alone by Ali Vlasman. The Falcons went on to win by a final score of 76-25.

Fanshawe honored the senior players of the women's basketball team for their contributions to the Fanshawe Athletics basketball program. Congratulations goes out to Larissa McBean, Rachel Jaworowicz, Alicia Racine, Kiera Serodio, Stephanie Antwi and Braedyn Ferguson.

The Falcons are on the road on Saturday, Feb. 7 to take on the Mohawk Mountaineers. The game begins at 1 p.m.
