ST. CLAIR 84, SAULT 34

WINDSOR, Ont. - The St. Clair College women's basketball are now 5-1 in the OCAA's west region after completing a weekend sweep of Sault College (Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.) with an 84-34 victory Sunday afternoon at the SportsPlex.

The Saints held a lead of 20-8 after the opening quarter and by halftime were up 47-16. St. Clair held Sault to just 25 per cent shooting in the game and out-rebounded Sault 42-24.

Rookie guard Leah Beeler (Fort McMurray, Alta.) had the breakout game for the Saints scoring a game-high 19 points adding an astonishing 10 assists for the double-double. Third-year guard Meighen Boyd (Tecumseh, Ont./St. Anne) scored 13 points to go with six rebounds and five steals. Forwards Torrie Handsor (Wallaceburg, Ont.) and Nicole Tamm (Windsor, Ont./Holy Names) each also reached double figures in scoring with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Sault's Brooke Bellerose (Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.) and Riley-Jo Linklater (Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.) each scored eight points in a losing cause.
