WOMEN'S BASKETBALL NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP: DAY 2 RECAP

EDMONTON - Rebounding from their opening round loss, the top-seeded Humber Hawks defeated the Holland Hurricanes 78-66 to keep alive their medal hopes alive.

CCAA Bronze Quarter-Final #2: Humber Hawks 78, Holland Hurricanes 66

In a game marked by a whopping 57 foul shots, the Hawks, undefeated in their OCAA season, were led by player-of-the-year Ceejay Nofuente's 23-point performance. Also prominent was Aleena Domingo, who totaled 17 points and was named Humber's Player of the Game. Leticia Lopez, with 10 points, was the only other Humber player to reach double figures in scoring.

Humber took a seven-point lead within the first two minutes and never gave up the edge, which grew to 44-26 by halftime.

Holland's Player of the Game, Jayla Verney, produced 24 points and led her team with three steals. Five teammates – Ty'Keia Beals, Tyleigha Nelson, Darcy Zinck and Chelsea Slawter-Wrig, - each produced double-digit points as well. Zinck was also the game's top rebounder with nine.
