ST. CLAIR 81, NIAGARA 62

WINDSOR, Ont. - The St. Clair College women's basketball team got back on the winning track with an 81-62 victory over Niagara College (Welland, Ont.) Saturday afternoon at the SportsPlex.

The Saints played with purpose building a 22-11 lead after the opening quarter and only faltered slightly in the second quarter allowing Niagara to close to within 40-34 at the halftime break.

St. Clair opened it up in the third quarter outscoring the visitors 27-12 then cruising in the fourth quarter to the final score. The Saints held a decided 43-25 advantage on the boards which equated to 14 second-chance points. St. Clair also shot the ball extremely well from the field (49 per cent) and the free throw line (15-of-16, 94 per cent) to help themselves in the win.

Aleah Marton (Amherstburg, Ont./General Amherst) was hot throughout the game scoring a game-high 22 points including 6-of-6 from charity stripe for the Saints. Marton helped her teammates with six assists also adding three rebounds.

St. Clair's Shannon Kennedy (Windsor, Ont./St. Joseph's) made four triples to score 18 points to go with seven rebounds, four assists and two blocked shots. Elena Caldarelli (Tecumseh, Ont./St. Anne) scored 12 points while Nicole Tamm (Windsor, Ont./Holy Names) chipped in with 10 points for the Saints.

Niagara's Courtney McPherson (Welland, Ont.) scored 16 points in the loss.
