ST. CLAIR 84, CAMBRIAN 33

WINDSOR, Ont. - The St. Clair College women's basketball team recorded an 84-33 home court victory sweeping a weekend doubleheader with Cambrian College (Sudbury, Ont.) at the SportsPlex Sunday afternoon to move their record to 9-2 in the OCAA's West Division.

The Saints seized control early in this contest jumping out to a 21-5 lead after the first quarter and although Cambrian played nearly even in the second quarter still trailed 38-20 at halftime. St. Clair never looked back cruising to the victory and once again held a healthy 62-24 advantage in rebounding.

The Saints also got 27 points from their bench and an additional 15 points in second-chance points off 20 offensive rebounds. Great ball movement for St. Clair resulted in a season-high 28 assists as a team.

Fourth-year Saints guard Shannon Kennedy (Windsor, Ont./St. Joseph's) easily eclipsed her season average scoring a game-high 24 points and narrowly missed a double-double with nine rebounds. Third-year forward Nicole Tamm (Windsor, Ont./Holy Names) had another strong game scoring 16 points while adding 10 rebounds to go with a remarkable seven assists and three blocked shots for the Saints.

Torrie Handsor (Wallaceburg, Ont.) had a steady game for St. Clair scoring 11 points while pulling down six rebounds. Elena Caldarelli (Tecumseh, Ont./St. Anne) chipped with 10 points for St. Clair. A noteworthy performance was shown by second-year Saints guard Leah Beeler (Fort McMurray, Alta.) who although didn't record a point managed to distribute eight assists and just missed a double-double with nine rebounds.
