ST. CLAIR 87, CAMBRIAN 46

WINDSOR, Ont. - The St. Clair College women's basketball team moved their record to 8-2 in the OCAA West Division after posting an 87-46 home victory over Cambrian College (Sudbury, Ont.) Saturday afternoon at the SportsPlex.

Slow paced to start, the Saints eventually got some easy looks to take an 18-7 lead after the opening quarter. Cambrian stayed within striking distance using four 3-point makes in the second quarter but still trailed St. Clair 35-22 at the halftime intermission.

However, the Saints put the game away in the third quarter outscoring Cambrian 25-6 in the frame. St. Clair enjoyed a 72-27 advantage in rebounds and parlayed that into 22 second-chance points.  The Saints also defended the rim well with 11 blocked shots against the undersized squad from Sudbury.

Third-year Saints forward Nicole Tamm (Windsor, Ont./Holy Names) had a strong game scoring 20 points but added an impressive 16 rebounds to go with four assists and three blocked shots. Shannon Kennedy (Windsor, Ont./St. Joseph's) scored 19 points reaching a double-double with 11 rebounds for St. Clair but found time to distribute five assists.

Torrie Handsor (Wallaceburg, Ont.) had another double-double for the Saints scoring 16 points and pulling down 11 rebounds. Aleah Marton (Amherstburg, Ont./General Amherst) and Elena Caldarelli (Tecumseh, Ont./St. Anne) each chipped with 10 points for St. Clair.
