ST. CLAIR 86, REDEEMER 62

ANCASTER, Ont. - The St. Clair College women's basketball team improved to 10-2 with an 86-62 win over Redeemer University College in Ancaster, Ont., on Saturday afternoon keeping them firmly in the race for the OCAA West Division regular season crown.

The Lady Saints built a 40-29 lead by halftime and increased their advantage the remainder of the game which included a 29-point fourth quarter. The St. Clair defence held Redeemer to under 30 per cent shooting for the game while putting six Saints in double figure scoring.

Saints rookie guard Elena Caldarelli (Tecumseh, Ont./St. Anne) had 17 points off the bench to lead all scorers shooting 7-of-8 from the free throw line. Third-year forward Nicole Tamm (Windsor, Ont./Holy Names) had another good game for the Saints scoring 16 points to go with eight rebounds and an astounding eight blocked shots. Fourth-year player Shannon Kennedy (Windsor, Ont./St. Joseph's) scored 17 points adding six rebounds for St. Clair.

Torrie Handsor (Wallaceburg, Ont.) had another double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds for St. Clair adding two blocked shots. Aleah Marton (Amherstburg, Ont./General Amherst) also reached double figures scoring 13 points with Leah Beeler (Fort McMurray, Alta.) chipping in with 10 points for the Saints.

Redeemer's Jesseca Brown (Grand Manan, N.B.) surpassed the OCAA career scoring mark with 15 points but the Royals were led by Rebekah Couperus (Willsonville, Ont.) with 16 points in the loss.
