NIAGARA 63, ST. CLAIR 56

WELLAND, Ont. - The St. Clair women's basketball team lost their third OCAA West Division game in a row dropping a 63-56 decision to Niagara College in Welland, Ont., on Sunday afternoon.

The Lady Saints were in control early taking a 16-12 lead after the first quarter. But after holding a 27-21 advantage in the second quarter, St. Clair allowed Niagara to close out the half with an 18-2 run and trailed 39-29 at the intermission.

The Saints played hard down the stretch and closed to within five points twice including 60-55 in the late stages. But that was as close as they would come and could not pressure Niagara into any mistakes in the game's final minute.

The teams were evenly matched statistically but Niagara had a slight advantage in shooting and made a few key triples to scratch the separation.

Shannon Kennedy (Windsor, Ont./St. Joseph's) scored a game-high 25 points for St. Clair adding 14 rebounds for the double-double. Aleah Marton (Amherstburg, Ont./General Amherst) also notched a double-double scoring 11 points to go with 10 rebounds.

Niagara's Mary Ingribelli (St. Catharines, Ont.) scored 19 points in the win.
