ST. CLAIR 70, SHERIDAN 64

WINDSOR, Ont. - The St. Clair College women's basketball team has won four in a row in OCAA West Division league play thanks to a 70-64 outcome over Sheridan College (Brampton) Sunday afternoon at the SportsPlex.

The teams were fairly evenly matched coming in and the game proved to be the same. With a 16-14 lead after the opening quarter, St. Clair used a 15-3 run in the early part of the second quarter to create separation holding a 39-26 advantage by halftime.

The teams played dead even (14-14) in the third quarter but Sheridan made its run in the fourth coming within five points at 56-51. However, the Saints were able to hold on the down the stretch for the win. St. Clair scored 18 second-chance points in the game and got 26 points from their reserve players as opposed to just 11 for Sheridan.

Shannon Kennedy (Windsor/St. Joseph's) led the Saints with 16 points to go with five rebounds and four steals. Rookie St. Clair guard Logan Kucera (Chatham) had a double-double scoring 14 points and added 10 rebounds. Marissa Mara (Sarnia) had a fine shooting day making three triples on her way to 13 points for the Lady Saints.]

Sheridan's Brianna Stewart (Brampton) scored a game-high 23 points in the loss.
